Suicide Prevention/First Aid Training
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training – (18+) places available.
Delivered by Mind Cymru, this is a two day ‘suicide first aid’ course. Most people considering suicide share their distress and their intent, sometimes very discreetly. This training will help you see and respond to these invitations for help, give you the confidence to ask about suicide if you are concerned about someone’s safety and provide you with the tools to help prevent the immediate risk. Places at these courses are available free of charge (£20 returnable deposit on completion) to anyone living, working or attached to an agency or department in Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot Counties (representing a £180 saving per person).

The workshop
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training is a 2 day workshop that offers intensive training for front-line workers and community members. The emphasis is on teaching suicide first-aid to help a person at risk stay safe and seek further help as needed. ASIST provides practical training for caregivers seeking to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.
